On Sunday, January 24, 2021, Frank passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He will be reunited in heaven with his wife Anne (2005), his parents Jan and Cato, thirteen siblings and survived by his sister Trees and brother Paul in the Netherlands.
Frank is survived by his children Rick (Kerry), Paul (Rita), Cathy (Paul) and Marcel.
Much loved Opa to Jennifer (Mike), Kimberly (Matt), Colleen (Mike), Brandon (Liza), Joshua (Amanda), Bazil (Amanda) and Dexter and Great Opa to Brynn, Norah, Addison, and Arlo.
He will also be missed by his dear friend Gloria, as well as many friends he made along his way.
Frank immigrated from Terborg, Netherlands to Winnipeg in July 1955. Ten years later he moved his family to St. Catharines to avoid the harsh winters of Manitoba. He volunteered for Club the Netherlands and spent over 20 years as a Director. He wrote monthly news booklets for the Club and also put together 2 Anniversary booklets celebrating the 10th and 25th Anniversary of the Club.
He was also passionate about his “annual family Christmas newsletters”, his memoirs “The Lifestory of Frank Niesink and Family” as well as extensive travelling with his wife, including extended tours in their campervan.
Frank was a psychiatric nurse at the St. Catharines General Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a frequent blood donor for the Canadian Red Cross Society with well over 100 donations.
He enjoyed Jeopardy, games of Scrabble and was an avid photographer.
He was a member of the church choir, having spent many years in the choir of the St. Catharines Cathedral and later at St. Julia’s Parish. Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON (905) 937 4444
