BAK, Michael Sr.
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Michael on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the NHS-St. Catharines Site at the age of 93. Predeceased by his loving wife Julia (June 2020), sister Mary (the late Mike) Zahorchak, brothers John (the late Mary) and Paul (the late Barbara). He will be greatly missed by his sons Tom, Michael Jr. (Margaret), Dennis (Koula); grandchildren Sam, Ali, Gregory (Heather), Melissa (Chris), Jonathan (Kayla), Deanna (Jim), Stephen, Katherine; great-grandchildren Gavin, Lila and Tatum; brothers Steve (Agnes) and Andy; sister Rose (the late Joe) Vriens.
Life, for Mike, was never the same after his dear wife of 71 years, Julia, passed away seven months ago. Mike was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked hard from a young age to provide for his family. Mike enjoyed family gatherings and meals featuring Julia's traditional Slovak cooking.
Due to Covid, a private family funeral will take place with interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Grateful for services from the St. Elizabeth Personal Support Workers, Merritton Community Pharmacy, Dr. Gruber and the Heart Function Clinic at NHS-St. Catharines Site.
Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. In lieu of flower donations, in memory of Mike Sr., donations to a local food bank or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be most appreciated.
