It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mark Brennan at the age of 99. Beloved husband of 70 years to Gloria (neé Robbins), devoted father to Mark (Kathleen), and Michael (Margaret). Mark was a proud grandfather to Erin (Matthew) of Burlington, Dan (Cindy), and Heather (Mike) of Vancouver, and great-grandfather to Brennan, Aubrey, Maeve, Kieran and Leland. Mark is survived by his sister Bernadette, and is predeceased by his siblings Agnes, William, Theresa, James, Grace Margaret, Laurence, and Joseph.
Born in Scotland, he Joined the RAF at 17 as a Gunner, flying several tours out of North Africa during the Second World War. He immigrated to Canada after the war in 1947 and was proud to call Canada home. Mark worked as a Project Manager for 33 years for Nortel (Northern Electric) in Montreal. After retiring he volunteered with many charities and especially enjoyed interacting with children at the Macdonald Arboretum which is now part of McGill University. He had a passion for curling and golf and treasured his family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Linhaven for their kind and compassionate care.
According to Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to current Covid restrictions, a funeral mass at St. Alfred's Church will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, ON.
