Shirley Ann McGarvey (Blakie)

Shirley passed away peacefully at Millennium Trail Manor at the age of 88.  Beloved wife of 71 years to the late James Crawford McGarvey; sister of Margaret Dawdy (Burt) of Burlington; loving Mother of Lynn Wybrow (David), Richard McGarvey (Susan), Gary McGarvey (Teresa) and Kim Lis (Ian Coulter). Cherished Nanny to Michelle, Jordan, Carly, Kate, Jaycie, Kylie, Brianne and Derek, and ‘GG’ to 10 great grandchildren.

Shirley travelled over the years with a great group of friends and belonged to the Caribbean Club.  Most importantly she loved her cards and Euchre was her game.  She enjoyed the company of a wonderful card group of girls who played together for decades – so here’s a ‘shout-out’ to you girls, Mom went out with a lone hand.

Mom was a lover of the Bee Gees, Beatles, Eagles, wine and dancing.  The McGarvey home was a happy and popular social venue for both friends and family.  Shirley enjoyed puttering in the garden and always had a canine friend at her side.
