Josephine “Josie” Morrison (nee Bulanda)
Josephine “Josie” Morrison passed away peacefully on Friday May 7th, at the Meadows of Dorchester in her 93rd year, with her children Janice and Jim by her side. Loving mother of Janice Benvenuto (companion Renato Floriani) and Jim (Trish); sister to Eddie (Sheila), Veronica (late Chet), John (Hazel) and Rita (Chet). Cherished Grandma of Matthew Benvenuto (Laura Matthews), Christine (Darryl) Dionne and William Morrison. Proud Nana of Norah and Evie Dionne. Josie will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by beloved husband John “Jack”, son Robert “Bob”, her many brothers and sisters and son-in-law Dennis Benvenuto.
Josie had a lifelong passion for both playing and watching curling with her late husband Jack and attending many of the grandchildren’s sporting events, Blue Jay games and travelling. She was an active member of the St. Catharines Curling Club and past President where she organized many events such as luncheons and bonspiels. She was a member of the CWL of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Parish for over 50 years. Josie was very passionate about her cooking and if you stopped by for a visit, she would prepare a meal in no time. The past four and a half years, Josie was so happy living at the Meadows of Dorchester where she called home. One of her favourite expressions was calling everyone she met “sweetheart”.
The family cannot express enough gratitude to; Dr. Charles Hu, Registered staff, PSW's, and all the staff on Spring Garden Unit. A special thank you to the recreational staff who were able to continuously keep our mom involved in activities. In keeping with Josie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:00AM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON.
