Obituary of Janis Medland

MEDLAND, Janis Winnifred

Passed away peacefully at Henley House on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Predeceased by her beloved companion, Tino Arnaiz. Janis will be lovingly remembered by her longtime friends Mark and Christine Pizzacalla, and their children Erica and Amanda. Cherished cousin of Phyllis Waite, Ian Gursby, and many other cousins. Also missed by dear friends Brett Polegato, Len Harfield, Rob Welch and Marilyn Malton. Predeceased by her parents, Murray and Winnifred, and friend Paul Waite.

Janis received her degrees from the Toronto Conservatory of Music and Brock University. She taught Music and English for over 30 years at Princess Elizabeth and Cherrywood Acres, both in Niagara Falls. Janis was an avid animal lover, especially fond of her poodles, Sasha, Andrew, Sarah and Oliver. She enjoyed her winter trips to Bermuda, Spain and England. She had a love for reading and classical music.

Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, June 29 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home ceremony room at 12 p.m. Interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

As per the Province of Ontario Covid-19 regulations – visitation is limited to 15% building capacity. Funeral attendance is limited to 40 guests. All guests attending the visitation or funeral must wear a mask and must call the funeral home to make an appointment, (905) 937-4444.
