Young, Michael Terry “Mike”
Peacefully at home on Wednesday June 23, 2021 with his wife and children by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of 34 years to Shirley, proud father to Tom and Jenn, Dan and Donna, and David and Dawn Tuckwell. Adored and loved Grampa to Jesse and Rachel, Kayla and Jordan, Brie and Brett, Samantha and Linden, Nate and Addison. Step-Grampa of Carlie and Brennan, special great-grampa to Nolan, Brantley, and soon-to-be Mara. Best pal to Reggie. Loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Barry (Loretta), Bill (Brenda).
Mike worked at GM for 35 years retiring in 1995. An avid golfer, Mike also loved reading and spending time with his family. Mike and Shirley loved to travel, with favourite trips being to Disney World with his children and grandchildren. Mike and Shirley also conquered climbing Ayers Rock in the Outback of Australia together in 1998.
Special thanks to his granddaughter Samantha for her weekly visits, they made him smile. Also to his sister-in-law, Pat for the daily “check-ins”. He loved his visits with Reggie and Tom.
Arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 27th 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Ceremony Room on Monday June 28th at 11am.At Mike’s request, if you own any Disney-themed attire, please wear it to his visitation and funeral service—Mike wants you to “be comfortable”. In lieu of flowers, donations to Autism Ontario (Niagara Chapter) would be appreciated by his family.
