Over a period of many months, I visited Trevor in Welland Hospital, and it was very easy to spend a good part of the afternoon with him, always ending with Holy Communion. What an exceptional, wonderful man...a true Franciscan! From his stories about his life adventures, two things stood out: his deep love for his family, and his even deeper love of his Lord. Today, for some unknown reason, I was thinking about him, having lost touch with him after his discharge from hospital. With the help of Franciscan friends, this evening I learned of Trevor’s death. I very much regret that I wasn’t able to attend his funeral Mass this afternoon. I treasure the gift of a book he gave me before his discharge ....Trevor knew about my Franciscan vocation before I really did. Trevor has deeply influenced my life. I think he will be with me in two weeks, when I celebrate my Profession as a Secular Franciscan. My deep condolences to all his beloved family. Peace and all good.

I’ve had the pleasure of being able to spend time with this wonderful man over the past 7 years. We started out in patient/ caregiver roles but very quickly he became my friend. Trevor noticed every small detail. He had a way of knowing if you were having a good or bad day before you even opened your mouth. I always found that remarkable about him. He truly listened to you and he truly cared about what you had to say. He shared many stories of his life with me over the years; jobs he’s had, places he’s travelled, things he’s done. The love he has for his family was always number one. He was so proud of his family. I have never met a family who is as close to each other as the Maingot family is, and they have all made me feel as though I am part of the family, too. My heart goes out to all of you. Your father/ grandfather was an incredible man and his loss is felt deeply. Even though his time on earth has come to an end, the impact he left on all our lives will continue on.

I will never forget when I first met Trevor and Rita in CA when they were visiting her sister, Emily, and Emily’s husband Ben for Christmas. They were both such gracious tender loving couple and I felt like I had known them all my Life. Mo and I visited St. Catherines staying with Gina right after Rita had passed away. Trevor took us to a very nice place for dinner along the water and we had such a wonderful time. Mo and I hadn’t been back until 20 plus years later. We went over to see Trevor, Michelle and the girls and had such a nice lunch they had fixed for us. Trevor was one of the most exceptional men I have ever known and I will miss him very much. Each time Mo and I went to visit Gina we went and saw Trevor either at home and one time when he was in the Hospital. I thank Gina for having the entire Maingot family over to her farm one year Mo and I were up there so that Mo could see everyone. What a wonderful family I was introduced to and my condolences to them all. Trevor will be missed by everyone he touched. R. I.P. My adopted Uncle I love you and will miss you very much.
