Obituary of Peter Tkachyk
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of their dear father, Peter Tkachyk on August 17th, 2021 in his 86th year. Survived by his children: Greg, Teresa (Paul) Kealey, Eileen (Glenn) McFarlane, Mark, and Melissa (Josh) Matlow. Loving Grandpa of Meagan, Kyrstin, Alison, Philip, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Tracey and Molly; great-grandfather to Annabelle and Scotia. Will be missed by his siblings: Michael (Lorette) and Eva (Claude) Gosselin and sisters-in-law Agnes, Sister Sheila Way and Sylvia Mullan. Peter was predeceased by his first wife, Stella and his second wife, Helen. Peter grew up in Manitoba and received degrees from: The University of Ottawa, Niagara University and the University of Toronto. In 1990 after a fulfilling 30 years in education, Peter moved onto his second career as a Financial Planner, where he retired and then devoted his time to his church, St. Alfred’s being involved in the RCIA program. Peter had a passion for travel and volunteering in places like Grenada and Jamaica and Ukraine. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the St. Catharines Hospital, Pioneer Elder Care and Royal Henley for their compassionate care. Peter's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street on Sunday, August 22nd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home on Sunday at 8pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Monday, August 23rd at 10am. The Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Warehouse of Hope or Chalice would be appreciated by the family.
