Tatiana Glinski

Obituary of Tatiana Glinski

GLINSKI, Tatiana- After 91 wonderful years, Tatiana Glinski, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, quietly slipped away on May 6, 2012 to join her recently deceased husband Roman. In the end, her body was unable to match the resolve of her indomitable spirit. Born on Jan. 12, 1921 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Tatiana was the only child of Peter and Ewfinia Kuszniecowa. She grew up in a loving, nurturing home, eventually attending university, until the nightmare of war tore her world apart. With courage and resilience, characteristics that would become her hallmarks in later years, she survived occupation, capture and internment, before being spirited away to safety. It was while interned that she met Roman Glinski, the man that would become the love of her life for 67 years. Emigrating with Roman in 1947, Tatiana left everything she knew behind, and proudly adopted Canada as her home. Her spirit unbowed by the sorrows of the past, Tatiana resolutely went about building a new life. Roman's family and friends, some of whom were already in Canada, became lifelong cherished friends and a central part of her life. Tatiana raised two children, Ted and Barbara, who she taught to love and laugh and most importantly to embrace life to the fullest. It was this attitude that made her fight so tenaciously through numerous medical struggles in later years.Where others might falter and succumb, Tatiana never did. Those who remember Tatiana will know how profoundly she loved her family, and how absolutely devoted she was to her husband, Roman. They were inseparable in life, and even death could only keep them apart for but a brief time. Tatiana and Roman are now re-united, as they should be, and can now walk together in love for all eternity. Forever loved and held dear in our hearts, Tatiana is survived by her son Ted (wife Fiona) and daughter Barbara (husband, Stephen Dreschel); grandchildren Ashley (Ted) and Bryan (Barbara and Stephen); and great- grandchildren John, Tatiana and Juliette (Ashley). The family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Tatiana's many friends who provided so much love and comfort, and to the many nurses, PSW's and doctors, particularly Dr. P. Zuliani, who so caringly attended to Tatiana's every need in her final months. Finally, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice Niagara. It is our fervent wish that every senior could be treated with the dignity, and receive the kind of gentle care and attention that Tatiana received there in her final days. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, May 11th from 3-6p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street on Saturday at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. For those so inclined, in lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Hospice Niagara in Tatiana's memory.
