JANZEN, John Edward
Passed away peacefully into God’s loving care on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 85. Devoted husband of 65 years to Hazel (nee Armitage). Loving father of Debra (Les) Maund and Terry (Brenda) Janzen. Proud grandpa to Chadd (Caitlyn) and Cori (Youssef). Loving "grampin" to CJ. John will also be remembered by many extended family members. Predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Janzen, and his brother Ernie (Liz) Janzen.
John owned and operated St. Catharines Buildall from 1975 to 1989. He was a master electrician and air conditioning mechanic at Blenkhorn and Sawle, and a service manager at Gordon Wright Electric. John was a very active member of First Grantham United Church, where he served as a trustee and on the legacy committee. He had a passion for stock car racing, Nascar, and dirt modifieds. John was known for being meticulous, and he always took great pride in all of his building projects.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at NHS-St. Catharines and Hotel Dieu Shaver for their care and compassion.
Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, October 14 from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, October 15 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home ceremony room. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or First Grantham United Church.
