MARKARIAN, Trudy (nee Horwood)
It is with great sadness that the family of Trudy Markarian announce her passing on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Peter Markarian (2002). Loving mother of Michael Markarian and Elizabeth Markarian. Cherished grandma to Michael Jr., Paige, Brody and Britny. Much loved aunt to Sheila Horwood, Bill Horwood Jr. (Stella Bird), the late Laurie Paine, Derek Paine and Darren Paine, and great-aunt to Oscar & Simon Horwood. Sister-in-law to Rose (the late Roy) Paine. Trudy will be fondly remembered by her relatives in England: Clare Farmer, Brendan Cush, Jim McDonald and Doreen Pike and many others. Trudy is predeceased by her loving parents, Elizabeth and William Horwood; her sister Tracey Horwood, and her brother William Horwood and his wife Julie.
Trudy worked briefly at General Motors as a line-worker, where she met her husband Peter. Later on, she worked for many years as an Avon representative, where she was consistently a top salesperson. Trudy will be remembered for her kind heart, her sense of humour, her love of music & dancing and her welcoming demeanor. She was an absolute joy to be around. The family has many fond memories of all of the family get-togethers, as well as many trips up North.
The family wish to extend a special thanks to the staff at West Park, particularly the one-on-one care for Trudy. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines Monday, October 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 19 in the funeral home ceremony room at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
