Obituary of Alfonso Costantini
Alfonso, (aka Chief, Fonzi, Alfie) in his 95th year, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, on Sunday October 17th, 2021.
Loving husband to Maria for 65 years. They were blessed with six children, Valentino (Joyce), Marina(Rocco) Cirone, Anna (Rob) Graham, Patrizia Beam, Antonella (Chris), and Ivana.
His joy was being Nonno to 11 grandchildren and 3 Step grandchildren. Alex (Lauren), Aliscia Costantini, Carlye (Jim) Morris, Daniel and Joseph Cirone, Kayla (Cameron) Wills, Jessica (Pat) Stewart, Mackenzie Graham, Kate (Justin) and Joel Beam, James John Inneo and step grandchildren, Bre McLaughlin, Tommy and Peter Rodgers.
Even greater joy was his nine great grandchildren, Violet and Jade Costantini, Lincoln Legere, Graeme, Caleb and Serafina Morris, Kinsley Wills, Evelyn and Finnley Stewart.
Survived by his two sisters Carina and Maddelena and brother-in-law Bruno in Italy. Predeceased by siblings Antoniette, Carmine, Italia, Ferdinando and Maria Palma, and brother and sister-in-laws, Donato, Anselmo, Vincenzo and Pasqualina.
Alfonso was a very proud founding member of Club Roma. He thoroughly enjoyed dinner dances and many other functions he attended that helped promote the Italian culture he was so proud of.
His greatest joys other than his family were gardening, hunting, wine making and wine drinking. He loved when his family joined him in a game of cards but also spent many hours playing Solitaire.
Up until a few years ago, Alfonso could be regularly found around town on his bike. In recent years he could be spotted in his upgraded Red Electric Scooter.
Alfonso lovingly took care of his wife Maria until the time came for her to move to Henley House. He recently joined her, but his residency there was short.
We wish to thank the staff at Henley House and NHS -St. Catharines site for their compassion and care these last two months.
Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, on Wednesday October 20th, 2021, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Alfreds Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines, on Thursday October 21st, 2021, at 11 am. Entombment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the Funeral Mass must RSVP to the funeral home 905-937-4444 as capacity is limited. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Niagara Children's Centre, McMaster University Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
