Obituary of Maria LaVigna
LAVIGNA, Maria (nee Calabrese)
December 28, 1922 – October 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother Maria LaVigna on Monday, October 25, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Giovanni (2008) for 67 years. Cherished Mother of Antonietta LaVigna, Filomena (the late Joe, 2017) Napolitano, the late Alfonso “Alfie” LaVigna (2007), Elisa (Sam) Bilardo and Anna (Tim) Miotto. Loving Grandmother of 12 Grandchildren and Great Grandmother to many great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her sister Lucy Iuliano, sister-in-law Maria Terrigni, many nieces, nephews and extended family members both in Canada and Italy. She is predeceased by her parents Filomena and Nicola, her siblings Apollonia, Angelina, Michelina, Vince and Giovannina.
The family would like to thank Dr. Luce and the staff at Tufford Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m and Vigil Prayers at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alfred Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines, on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
