Obituary of Mary Kathleen Greene
After a life well lived, Mary passed away on January 22, 2022 in her 98th year. She will once again be reunited with the love of her life Edgar “Ted” (2007). Devoted mother to Josephine, Patricia (David Griffiths), Christopher (Sylvia), and Robert. Loving Nana to five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her parents, three brothers, and her dear sister Patricia Graham.
Born in England, Mary came to Canada as a war bride in 1948. She was an active member of St. Denis Church for over fifty years, serving in the Catholic Women’s League, as a lay minister, lay reader and alter server. Mary also dedicated years of service volunteering with the Hotel Dieu Auxiliary, Linhaven, and Versa Care.
Mary’s family would like to extend special thanks to the Sisters and the caregivers at the Carmelite Home. Thank you also to the caregivers at Linhaven for their care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 25th at 1pm at St. Denis Catholic Church with interment to follow. For those wishing to attend the visitation or Mass please RSVP to the funeral home at 905-937-4444 as capacity is limited. Proof of double vaccination/identification is required for those wishing to attend the visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carmelite Sisters would be appreciated by Mary’s family.
