Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Birdgeneau
BIRDGENEAU
Amy Patricia “Pat” Birdgeneau (nee Locke) January 11, 1943 – January 27, 2022
Pat, who loved being a mom, nanny and great-nanny, departed this world with her loving family by her side on Thursday, January 27, 2022. “We witnessed her leaving this world as we told her we loved her and we are thankful for the gift when, just days before, she was able to talk, laugh and tell us she loved us.” Pat was born January 11, 1943 to Arthur Reginald Locke and Margaret Avonna Reid in St. Catharines after her family made the move from Lennoxville, Quebec and was the youngest of nine.
Married on August 26, 1961, she was the cherished wife of Peter Birdgeneau Sr. for 61 years. Loving mother of 5, including twins, Cathy (Ted) Scheers, the late Peter Jr. (June 30, 2021), Debbie (Tom) Birdgeneau, Cheryl Bruce (Sam) and Darryl Birdgeneau (Sheri) . She raised her children with love and devotion. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, her siblings Margaret (Tom) Cairns, Charlie (Helen), Betty-Anne (Jake) Braun and Mike (Noreen) Locke and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Margaret, son Peter Jr., granddaughter Shannon, siblings Arthur R. Locke, John B. “Jack” (Evelyn) Locke, Gilbert (Millie) Locke, and Mary (Don) Whitehouse.
Pat was a proud stay at home Mom who loved to collect dolls, crystal figurines and she knew how to make her home sparkle for Christmas. She was a fun loving beautiful soul and a true lady in every sense of the word. Just follow the laughter and the music and you’d find the Locke sisters who loved to party and dance. They were infamous for their kitchen roller skating skills. Whatever the music or event Pat and Pete were known to tear up the dance floor.
A special thank you to the 3B floor nurses and staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their kind care. Another special thank you goes to our friend Kim Rorie for her unwavering compassionate care of our mother this last year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society- Niagara Chapter or to fightingblindness.ca. You can only have one mother
Patient kind and true
No other friend in all the world
Will be the same to you
When other friends forsake you
To mother you will return
For all her loving kindness
She asks nothing in return
As we look upon her picture
Sweet memories we recall
Of a face so full of sunshine
And a smile for one and all
Sweet Jesus take this message
To our dear mother up above
Tell her how we miss her
And give her all our love
