Obituary of Lucette Marie Line Richards
Lucette ‘Lou’ Marie Line Richards (nee Lanteigne) was a caring mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. She fought strongly against a 3.5 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, but sadly at the young age of 57 she passed away, peacefully resting in her sleep on Friday, February 25th 2022 @ 9pm at Hospice Niagara. She was the 13th of 14 born to Edith Marie (nee Duguay) and Diomede Lanteigne on September 4th, 1964 in a small village near her parents’ current home of Petite-Rivière-de-l'Ile, New Brunswick. She was among 6 boys (Rheal, Benoit, Rene, Gabe, Florent, Dan), and was the baby of 8 girls (Angela, Jacqueline, Murielle, Jeanne D'arc, Claire, Annette, Liette, and herself), often being raised by the elder siblings help. She is predeceased by her mother Edith at 88 years old, and older brother Benoit in 1982, while her father remains proudly living at 102 years old. She is survived by her only daughter, Elizabeth Marie, born June of ‘92.
She graduated from Kernahan Park in ‘82, excelling in math and participated in running and Fashion Shows with self-made clothing. She was always a crafty, kind, fun, happy and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. She constantly kept busy, loved woodworking especially, and liked to move quickly. She worked many places in her life, notably, Becker’s Milk, Nevadaman, sailing, babysitting, as a stay-at-home mom, cleaner, & retail. She loved yard sales and revisiting her parents’ home back in New Brunswick most years. She married Joseph Richards in ‘91, though they split amicably over a decade later, they remained legally married and very close friends, by each other's side ever since. She loved many things in life, but nothing more than her ‘babydoll’, her ‘sunshine’, her daughter, Elizabeth Marie. Lucette stayed true to who she was throughout her life, and made many friends while she was ‘living the dream’ as she would say.
Unfortunately, she was sick for a year and then diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer - Stage 4, and she was given 2 months to 1 year to live. She courageously went through 35+ chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and stayed positive throughout her added isolation of the pandemic times. Her daughter and son-in law Carlin moved in to care for her, and she stayed at her home being made as comfortable as possible per her wishes until 2 weeks before her passing, in which she experienced the blessings of Hospice Niagara. She was able to rest peacefully for the first time in many years, may solace be found in that she is not truly gone as her spirit remains alive throughout each heart she touched.
