Obituary of Jim Hamilton
Jim passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 5th 2022, in his 86th year, surrounded by his family at Hamilton General Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Stuart), predeceased by his parents, James and Grace Hamilton. Brother of Douglas (Sylvia), brother-in-law of Marilyn. Loving and best Dad of Kim (Art) Bradshaw, Karen (Troy) Butler and Shelley (Mike) LaPlante. Amazing grandfather and biggest cheerleader of Megan (Chris), Sarah, Amber (Keenan), Trevor, Matthew, Maddie and Sydney (Stephen). Loving uncle of Scott, Jeff and Cindy. Jim was born in Brantford, Ontario. In 1953, he started with Loblaws Company and moved in 1963 to Port Colborne, Ontario as Assistant Manager. In 1971, he moved to St. Catharines and continued his career as a manager with the company until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed all the various sports and activities his girls and grandchildren were involved in and the many family vacations taken in Port Elgin. Jim was also an avid Blue Jays fan along with his wife, Barb. He also enjoyed therapeutic aquatic classes and the many wonderful people he met there. Many thanks to the staff at both the St. Catharines’ Hospital and the Hamilton General CCU. In keeping with his wishes, cremation and a private family service have taken place. In lieu of flowers, if desired donations may be made to Elm Street United Church, Community Care, St. Catharines or the Rankin Cancer Run.
