To Lisa and Dale's family: I know that this is very late, but it was only on a business trip 2 weeks ago that I learned of Dale's passing from a colleague. I was shocked and saddened. I met Dale, what almost seems a forever ago, when he worked with Customs, back in 1999. we worked a joint project together and I was instantly energized by his smile and incredible work ethic. He was a kind and gentle soul and lots of fun to work with. My heart breaks for you, Lisa and little Alexandra. I send you heartfelt sympathies and pray that you can find solace and comfort in all of the many wonderful memories you have of Dale and in all the amazing words written by so many about him. Much love to you, Tammy

It is with great sadness and shock I am writing this. Dale and I attended the Ontario Police College together. He and I sat beside one another in class. I could hardly focus on the instructor because he had me laughing the entire time. Though we lost contact after OPC, the times we did run into each other we picked up right where we left off, him with his big smile, goofy jokes and making me laugh.
My deepest and sincerest condolences to Dale's family, friends and co-workers.
You will always be remembered. Rest In Peace my friend.

A rare friend
I have the distinction of being Dale's oldest friend. Our friendship started in grade 1 and has lasted across many miles and many moves. Out of sheer coincidence we reconnected when I finally moved to St. Catharines ten years ago. Dale, with his quirky sense of humour, observed with delight, "Hey! We have the same garbage day!"
Dale was one of those rare friends with whom neither one of us had to apologize for letting months elapse without connecting, and we always simply just picked up where we left off. We all know how few and far between friends like those can be, and I treasured that gift.
When our daughters were born within months of each other, Dale and I both shared our hope for the future that our girls would enter French Immersion together and remain friends throughout school as he and I did. It looks like that may just happen.
Dale's beauty and joy of life live on through his gorgeous daughter. I feel so lucky to be able to watch her grow, knowing how proud he would be of every little thing she does. Dale could not have chosen a better mother of his precious little girl than he did in Lisa, and I'm sure he knows that she is in excellent hands with her.
Lisa, I've been Dale's friend for 35 years and I'm not about to leave now. I'm so glad he found you to share the happiest times of his life.
My deepest and most sincere condolences, on behalf of my immediate family Devon, Nicola and Paolo Fornelli, for my father, Giovanni Di Bella who worked with Dale's father, and for my mother, Ferol Di Bella, who has no doubt welcomed Dale to Heaven with open arms and great big party.

Dale was one of my yoga students at Wellspring.
He was one of the most exceptional people I have met. His courage in living with a painful and difficult disease, his curiosity and willingness to try whatever was offered in our classes inspired me. I will miss him.

I am the captain of one of the patrol boats in the Canadian Coast Guard. I never worked with Dale but have heard stories. They were full of respect and about a man who gave all. Last summer I was serving on the CCGS Isle Rouge with a chance to carry the Stanley Cup. But when the RCMP Officer said they wanted Dale on a boat with it, the decission was simple. It was because of the respect he had from so many. I can only say on how sorry I am for your loose.

Doting loving father
Having been Alexandras childcare provider I saw Dale in a light that some may not have seen. He was a very fun affectionate father and every morning he dropped her off not a day went by that a smile was not on his face or Alexandras. He saw his daughter as a child "that could do no wrong" as any little girl would want their father to see them. I am grateful to have been touched by his love for her. He was very willing to compliment which I took with honour that he would take the time to phone to thank me for caring for his world, Alexandra. When I see Alexandra smile....I see his smile. And the world is better for it. Rest now Dale. And watch over your girls.

A Gentleman and a Scholar
Dale was a student in my French class at the St. Catharines Collegiate. He was an excellent student who was always upbeat and willing to help. His friendly smile brightened the room. He was a pleasure to teach and a great friend, as many of his classmates would confirm. Dale had goals in life and he was willing to put in the effort to achieve them.
Although his life with us was not long, we are all richer for having known him. My condolences to his family.
