DeMeo Mariantonia(La Selva)
Passed away peacefully at Extendicare on the afternoon of Friday May 7, 2022 in her 98th year.
Beloved wife of Michele DeMeo for 55years.
Mariantonia was deeply beloved by her large family.
She was predeceased by her cherished parents Cecilia and Giovanni La Selva and Michele’s parents Pasquale and Columba De Meo. She was the oldest of six siblings and was predeceased by Guiseppe (Carmela) La Selva, Maria (Ernesto) Ferrante, Nicole (Guiseppina) La Selva of Argentina, she is survived by her siblings Filomena (the late Antonio) De Lisio and Antonio (Giuseppina) La Selva, all of St. Catharines. Michele’s siblings Nardina (the late Biagio) Inneo of Welland, and Giovanni, Concetta and Lina of Italy.
Mariantonia immigrated to Canada in 1965 from Castellino del Biferno, Molise, Italy. She was a devoted housewife and enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed and remembered forever by all her extended family.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Alfred's Church. Mariantonia’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Extendicare for their compassionate care, and to their palliative care team going above and beyond to keep her comfortable in her last days.
Mariantonia’s family will receive visitors at the George Darte Funeral Home& Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines 905-937-4444 on Thursday, May 12th from 10am. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday May 12th at St. Alfred Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street at 1 pm. Entombment Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
If so desired, donation made to the Niagara Health System, St. Catharines Site or Hotel Dieu Shaver in Mariantonia would be appreciated by her family.
