I have known the McSweens for 52 years. My heart felt condolences go out to his Mother Marianne, Father Don and his sister Debbie. Rich was also close to his aunt Carole Gatenby and his cousin Peter. I have many fond memories of Rich growing up. He loved everything with wheels, dinky cars, bicycles, motorcycles, dirt bikes, He loved ketchup on his Kraft Dinner, only ate the yokes of eggs and loved more mayonnaise on his tuna sandwiches than tuna. He liked to watch Nascar and Happy Days. We all loved to torture our babysitters Erica and her friend. We would make a huge mess of the house and eat all the snacks. He loved to make his sister and my heart stop when he started to jump off the awning into the pool, frog legs in the air. We would run around our neighbourhood playing capture the flag and yes Nicky Nicky Nine doors. We would walk on the wooden fence between our houses hoping not to fall off. We climbed the fence to school and ate lunch at my house every school day. Oh, we also hung out at the "choppy house" and smoked our first cigarettes. Rich loved music. We would hang out in the fort that his dad made for him listening to music. He introduced me to bands such as Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, Deep Purple, Rush, The Who, The Doors, Neil Young and of course Lynyrd Skynyrd. One Labour Day weekend, we were listening to the top 100 songs of all time, unfortunately we had to go to bed before the final 10 were played. We decided to call each other and we sat on the phone that seemed like hours before the final song was played which he called of course. It was Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" Rich, I hope that you are "free as a bird now" and flying around your mom, Carole and Debs gardens. I pray that when they see a bird hanging around their house they think about you and smile at the memories you have made together. Until we meet again, Love ya Rich, Natalie ( he never called me Nat)

I am saddened to hear about Richard's passing my condolences to the Mcsween family. The times I remember were pretty awesome , and hanging out with Richard and listening to loud music was a lot of fun.He always had the best stereo speakers. I will really miss knowing he's not around anymore but I will always treasure the fond memories that we had together.
