Obituary of Maela Sharon Holmes
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our Maela on June 22, 2022 at the age of 11. The best daughter of Dan and Leisha, big sister and best friend to her brother Cael. Cherished granddaughter to Grammy and Grandpa (Irene and Glyn), and Grandma and Grandpa (Sharon and Willard). Niece to Lara and Jason, Brenda and Jarrod, and Jamie. Cousin to Abby and Riley, James, Rowan, and Jackson. “Mae Mae” will be dearly missed by Auntie Jenn and Uncle Sunny, and their children Kylie and Kinsley, Auntie Cheryl and Uncle Shanks and their children Wes and Clay. Maela was met over the rainbow by her sister Leah. She will be missed by her dogs, Tilly (her T-bean) and Axel (Axel Man), and will be met over the rainbow by Kadie.
Maela was an amazing kid who loved life to the fullest. A passionate hockey goalie for the Niagara Rapids and the Brock Jr. Badgers Girl’s Hockey, Maela was a go-getter and willing to try any adventure. She enjoyed making people laugh, dancing to any type of music, and most importantly embraced who she was; a self-professed ‘weirdo’ and was confident in who she was as a person.
Arrangements entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society would be appreciated by Maela’s family.
We are grateful for all the support from our friends and family, and we can’t do this without you.
Update: A Celebration of Life will be held at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 6-10pm.
A Celebration toast will take place at 7:30pm with sparklers to follow.
