Geraldine Marcynuk

Obituary of Geraldine Teenie Marcynuk

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished, Mother, Grandmother and Baba, Geraldine Marcynuk (nee Krawchuk), June 30th, 2022 at the accomplished age of 91. She gracefully accepted God's call surrounded by family at St. Catharines General hospital. Survived by her children Debbie Janes-Marcynuk, Ed (Janet) Marcynuk, her treasured grandchildren, Neal Marcynuk (Amy Maher), Jolene (Braden) Coles, Kim Janes (Mike Tomascin), Ryan Marcynuk (Renee Box), Holly Marcynuk (Graham Boaretti) and the light of her life her great-grandchildren, Samson and Addison Marcynuk, Naomi Geraldine and Stella Coles, Nathan Warnock, Liam and "baby on the way" Boaretti. Predeceased by her endearing friend, the Father of her Children, Gerald Marcynuk (2018). Cremation has taken place.

Born in Beausejour, Manitoba to a family of 14 siblings, Geraldine relocated to Virgil, Ontario to raise her family in 1963. Geraldine established her identity in the community with the Dew Drop Inn restaurant in the center of town where she showcased her cooking talents and Ukranian heritage. Embracing all that Niagara has to offer, she farmed peaches and tomatoes while raising her young family. Geraldine moved on to work at Lakeshore Meats for 25 years before retiring herself to her artwork. An avid artist, she found her talent for painting later in life and wasted no time painting a collection of masterpieces that she gifted to so many people. Geraldine's other passion was for the garden. She spent countless hours tending to her own gardens and volunteered her time to anyone's garden needing some attention, whether they asked for it or not. If not cooking, painting or in the garden she could be found square dancing or perfecting her polka.

Most of all she loved her family and made it her life's purpose to instill good values and faith in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts remembering her love, kindness, generosity, strength and grace. Geraldine taught us that family is everything so we carry on with her as our guiding light.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to River Road Retirement home, Niagara Falls, Linhaven and the Palliative Care and Nephorology units at St. Catharines General Hospital. A warm and most heartfelt thank you to Father Schmidt, St. Julia's Church for guiding us with the grace and comfort of God.

The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, July 5th from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. Memorial Service at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, Wednesday, July 6th at 11 a.m. Just as Geraldine would have, the family invites you to adorn your favourite and brightest lipstick to the funeral "Give a woman lipstick and she can conquer the world".
