Obituary of Antonio Papalia

PAPALIA, Antonio Passed away peacefully on August 24th, 2012 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 90. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria. Adored father of Joseph (Susan) and Vera (Guenther) Penner. Cherished Nonno of Joseph Michael Papalia. Also survived by his sisters Maria (the late Stefano) Condina and Concetta (Cosmo) Condina. Brother-in-law of Anna (the late Frank) Papalia. He will also be missed by many relatives in Italy. Antonio was an exceptional gardener, loved wine making, and even in his later years would walk to the gym to exercise. Antonio's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, Monday August 27th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, on Tuesday, August 28th at 9:30am, with entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 7pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Arthritis Society, Alzheimer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
