Obituary of Michael Koshil
Koshil, Michael
July 14/1952 – September 18/2022
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Koshil on Sunday September 18th, 2022. Mike passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the ones he loved. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Patty Koshil, his sons Michael and Gregory (Melanie) and sister Lida (Ralph) Noble. He was the best Didi (grandfather) to Olivia.
Mike was born in Toronto where he grew up with his mother and big sister Lida. He spent his childhood like any other, spending his time outside around the neighborhood with lifelong friends whether that be playing hockey at the local outdoor hockey rink, enjoying summer trips to the Wasaga beach area or getting a pizza slice or panzo from a secret place in Toronto. Those who are lucky enough know where to go.
Those who knew Mike knew he was the life of the party and a true family man. It didn’t matter if you thought his jokes were funny or not because he knew they were hilarious. Mike spent 40 years as a welder throughout the Niagara area and was happy to share stories to make sure you knew to stay in school and not become a welder.
When not working the family spent their time at the trailer in Bobcaygeon. This was Mike’s happy place!! A lot of core memories were made, spending multiple hours on the water tubing, fishing or just out for a leisure boat ride they were all memories that would last. Add a Country Style apple fritter in the morning paired with a walk through the park socializing deck to deck followed by a Kawartha Dairy ice cream was all that he needed.
The world will never be quite the same without you asking “What’s that on your shirt” while pointing at your chest just to swoop up and nip your nose followed by a laugh or sneaking up behind you and grabbing your hat. Always of course followed by a laugh.
In the words of Big Mike keep “Living, laughing, having fun!”
