Obituary of Burton Brown
Burton Brown April 22/1939 - September 30/22
Burton Brown, husband for 62 years to Edith Brown passed away at the age of 83. Ever the gentleman, Dad let Mom go first just 8 days ago (Sept 22/22). Also predeceased by son Stuart Brown (1993) and infant daughter Judith. Dad immigrated to Canada in 1970 to make a better life for his family and worked hard to provide for his wife and 4 children. Happy with the simple things in life, we didn't have alot, but had everything we needed. Dad had a very thick Geordie accent and many times had to repeat himself to be understood, but what was not misunderstood was his sarcastic and wicked sense of humour which he retained until the very end. In times of crisis, this sense of humour comes out and gets us through. His cracks will sorely be missed, but we think he has successfully handed the torch to the rest of the family.
Dad will be very sadly missed by his children; Ian Brown, Debbie Quider (Rick), Jackie Phelps (Gary), and his grandchildren; Alisha Brown (Jay) Rebecca Quider, Jake Phelps and Matt Phelps, and Audrey Brown. Affectionately known as "Poppa" his grandchildren were a constant joy, listening quietly to their stories and imparting his wisdom and worldly advice. Poppa was absolutely delighted with Audrey, his first Great Grandchild, who put the biggest smile on his face whenever she was near.
Burton also leaves behind many extended family members in England, who are far away but were always very close to his heart.
In keeping with Burton's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. If desired, donations to Victim Services would be appreciated by Burton's family.
