Obituary of Peter Earl Joseph Ricciardi

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved son, Peter Earl Joseph Ricciardi at the age of 27. Peter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on October 20^th 2022. Loving son of Luigi Tindaro Ricciardi and Susanne Hoffman-Ricciardi. Dear older brother to James. Loving grandson of Rosina and Pietro (1998) Ricciardi, Rosemary Zimmermann and Earl Hoffman (1978). Loving nephew of Vincent and Maria Ricciardi, Karen Gluns-Ricciardi, Joanne Hoffman and Earl Hoffman. Loving cousin and best friend to Rebecca, Joshua, Samantha, Mohamed, Noah and Kennedy. Peter was a gentle, fun-loving young man, who was smart, witty, patient with a kind soul. He emanated happiness and calmness. He showed immense courage and “polite obstinance” during his battle with cancer. His battle brought forth his many admirable attributes including, patience, faith, courage, perseverance, gratitude, and thoughtfulness to others. Peter never got upset or complained, even when he became paralyzed and was unable to get out of bed. He found peace and joy in the little things of life and family; he loved food, cooking, computers, technology, Star Trek, dogs, and exploring the mysteries of space and the universe. Peter was studying physics at Brock University. He cherished our Marple friends and gatherings. He was our go-to tech support, calm through the storm, our rock. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. We would like to extend our deepest heartfelt thanks to the nurses of 6W and the most amazing and caring staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital 3B and the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Everyone showed him kindness and respect. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lee, Dr. Leroux, Sally NP, Alex RN and Ashley RN for their wonderful care. Sincerest thanks to Father Hugh Gibson, Father Goodwin, Father Kowalchuk, the Precious Blood Fathers, Louie Bonomi and all our family and friends who helped Peter on his journey home to be with our Lord. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. We welcome friends and family for a time of visitation on Sunday, October 23^rd 2022 from 11:00-1:00PM and 4:00PM-6:00PM with prayers held at 5:30PM. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Alfred’s Church 272 Vine St., St. Catharines at 11:00AM on Monday, October 24^th 2022 with burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in honour to the Missionaries of the Precious Blood Atlantic Province as his life began in their missions in Tanzania.
