Obituary of Rosario DeLuca
Peacefully on October 23, 2022 at the age of 90. Rosario was welcomed into heaven by his granddaughter Rose (2014). Beloved husband of 62 years to Rosa. Cherished father to Filomena (Pino) and Tony (Carmela). Loving Nonno to Marisa, Danielle, Ross, and Matthew. Rosario is survived by his brother Francesco, sister-in-law Maria, and was predeceased by his siblings; Emilio (Maria), Luigi (Norina), Benito (Marietta), Concetta (Armando), Antonio (Maria), Stano, Maria, Ida (Giuseppe), and Maria (Pietro), and his parents Carmine and Filomena DeLuca. Rosario will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews throughout Canada, Italy and Uruguay.
Born in Fiumefreddo, Italy, Rosario immigrated to Canada in 1961. He retired from the City of St. Catharines after 25 years of dedicated service. Rosario enjoyed working in his elaborate vegetable garden, but what brought him the most joy was spending time with his grandchildren. The values and traditions Rosario instilled in his family will live on through his family.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 25 from 4-8pm with Vigil Prayers at 7pm at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11am at St. Alfred’s Roman Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations to Hospice Niagara, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or The Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by Rosario’s family.
