Obituary of Maria Janina Karpowicz

KARPOWICZ, MARIA
 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Linhaven at the age of 86. Beloved wife of deceased Teodor Karpowicz, mother of Alicia, Teresa, the late John, Irene, and Liz. Grandmother to Elizabeth, Amelia, Josh, Paige, Domenic, Andrew, Lauren and Maxx and Great Grandmother to Cayden, Thea, Audrey, Ian, Emma, and Easton. Maria was born in Poland and came to Canada after World War II to start a new life with her husband. She dedicated her life to raising her five children, yet still made time to volunteer her services to the Canadian Polish Society and to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.  She was also a baker at Helen’s Delicatessen in Downtown St. Catharines. Maria had a heart of gold, and will be remembered for her delicious home cooking and her kind, nurturing nature. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Linhaven and the Niagara Health Centre for their care and compassion.
The Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday October 27th  from 5-7pm. with Vigil Prayers at 6pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 28th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines, Ontario.  Donations may be made to the Linhaven Home for the Aged in Maria's memory would be appreciated by her family.
