Obituary of Rosalina Abello Miciano

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rosalina “Tia Nene” Abello Miciano, last 03 December 2022. “Tia Nene” is survived by her children, Juliet (and Edilberto), Lea, Emilina (and Carlos), Albine (and Elbert), and Gerardo. She was the loving “Nanay Lola” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Andres Marcelo (Andremar), Marie Andrea (Maan), Marcelus Andrei (Macky), Marie Adrianne (Mandy), Jose Marcelo (Jomar), Maria Lina (Lenlen), and Maria Judie; Christine Reyelle (Tintin), Christian Rex (Chanchan), Cherisse Coleen (Chinky) and Paul Jason (Peejay), Peenggay, Toey, and Christer Zandrei (Wiz); Jacqueline and Paulo, Val Marklou (Lloyd-gi) and Nicole, Carter, Zoey, Val Andrew and Beth, Rory, Felix, Lucy, Val Andrei and Amy, Marcus, and Nolan; Bianca and Alvin, Gabriel, Trisha and David, Danika, Jerard, Beatriz, and Rysel. She is also survived by her only remaining sibling, Anita and husband, Gelacio Legaspi.

Born August 8, 1924, in her beloved town of Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, she eventually moved to Poras, Boac, Marinduque after marrying Andres Miciano. A lifelong educator, she taught countless children at the Poras Elementary School, and eventually, her own grandchildren. She was known for her radiant smile, her love of food, especially the Filipino noodle dish pancit in all its varieties, maintaining a handwritten journal noting her everyday activities and the family’s important dates, her high-pitched singing voice, as well as her loyalty and love for the Toronto Blue Jays. 98 years of fond and loving memories with her and she will be missed very much.

The family invites guests for visitation on Friday December 9th from 1-9p.m. at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A funeral service will be held the following day, December 10th at 12:00p.m. at St. Alfred Church, located at 272 Vine St., St. Catharines. This will be followed by her burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, 431 Queenston St., St. Catharines.
