Obituary of Barry Craig Newhouse
Peacefully at home with his family by his side, Barry passed away on Monday, February 6th, 2023 in his 69th year. Loving husband of Linda (nee Mantini) for over 45 years. Devoted father to Kevin, Jenn (Jean-Luc Robichaud), and Michelle (Mike Bateman). Proud Papa to Alyssa, Chiara, Keenan, Cole, Jessi-Lynn, and Jordyn. He will be dearly missed by his siblings; Brian, Larry (the late Mary), Cathy (Mike Schroeder), Judi (Dave Himann), and Terry. Barry is predeceased by his parents Claire and Lois (nee Dakin) Newhouse.
Barry was an employee of TRW, retiring as a manager after 23 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hockey, playing cribbage, and travelling. Barry was proud of his baseball career, which lead to winning a gold medal in the Canadian Championships, and going on to represent Canada in the World Championships. He volunteered as a coach in both hockey and fastball, coaching his son in fastball all the way to the Canadian Championships, winning gold.
Family and friends will be welcomed on Thursday, February 9th from 1-3pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, with a Funeral Service taking place at 3pm in the funeral home ceremony room. A Celebration of Barry’s Life will continue at the Merritton Community Centre from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wellspring Niagara would be appreciated by Barry’s family.
