Obituary of David James Munro
MUNRO, David James – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David on Friday March 24, 2023. David passed peacefully at the Niagara Health System with his family by his side. David lived life to the fullest for 85 years and he was an inspiration and a kind smiling face to the many family and friends who crossed his path.
David will be remembered by his beloved wife and soulmate of 59 years, Ann (McDonald); his children Stephen (Rob, Tracy), Janice (George) and Tracy; his cherished grandchildren Michael (Monica), Bradley, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Alexandria and Mackenzie. Dad/Papa/Grampa’s family was his priority and he was a role model to all, always living life with a positive and optimistic outlook. He is survived by his older brother William “Billy” Munro (Marion), predeceased by Douglas, and remembered by his extended family living in Scotland; David (Anne), John and Gerry, Michael (Joanne), and Trina (Michael).
Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1938, David immigrated to St Catharines, Ontario with his new bride in 1964 to start his career as a Naval Architect/Engineer. David worked at Marine Consultants & Designers which he ultimately purchased as owner, maintaining consulting operations before amalgamating his company with Algoma Central Corporation, where he was a respected executive until his retirement in 2003. David transitioned into retirement with Ann that included winters in Florida, summers around his pool with family, golf with friends and travel.
Special thanks to Dr. Lee, Dr Saibil, Angel Graham and all the oncology doctors, nurses and support staff on 5B at the Niagara Health System.
David rests at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Thursday March 30 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
