Cole Conrad Zelenco
December 18, 2001- April 26, 2023
It is with broken hearts that the family of Cole announce his sudden passing in
Ukraine April 26, 2023.
Son of Lynn Baxter and Danny Zelenco, Cole is survived by his sister, Elena
Zelenco, grandparents Sharon Whissell-Fisher(John Fisher), Aunt Joanna and
Uncle Frank Nicoletta and cousins Ayden and Ava. Cole will be deeply missed by
a large family of great aunts and uncles and second cousins. Cole is
predeceased by his grandfather Conrad Whissell.
Cole, at a young age, followed his heart and conviction for justice and protection
of the vulnerable, to fight in Ukraine. He quickly moved up in leadership reaching
the rank of Junior Sergeant with a special branch of the International Legion. As
a commander, Cole took pride in leading the soldiers serving beneath him and
was fiercely protective and loyal. He even rescued an 8 week old abandoned
puppy while over seas.
Cole served proudly for 4 years with the Canadian Military before releasing and
serving in Ukraine. He also was a 3rd year Political Science student at Brock
University.
Cole has touched many lives throughout his short time on earth and will be
remembered by his many friends,teachers, mentors and fellow soldiers in
Canada , Ukraine as well as all over the world.
The young man has been officially declared a hero in Ukraine and has received
honours in Ukraine. Cole is a hero here in Canada for his impressive skill in
leadership and combat, his bravery, moral courage, kindness and compassion for
humanity overall.
Cole will receive a formal escort from the airport to George Darte Funeral Home
in St. Catharines. The funeral ceremony takes place May 25, 2023 at Club
Roma, St. Catharines. Commencing at 4:30 with guest sign in and formal
service to start at 5pm. A dinner reception will follow the service to celebrate
Cole’s life.
