Obituary of Eleanor May Cowan
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eleanor May Cowan on Monday, May 15th 2023 at the NHS-St. Catharines. Beloved wife of the late Fred Cowan; cherished mother to Lynn (Al) Leonard; great-grandmother to: Victoria, Owen, Emmett and Scarlett; loving mother-in-law to Brent Archer. Predeceased to Eleanor is: daughter, Pam Archer; grandson, Daryl Archer; brother John Ford and father Roy Ford; she will be missed by many extended family and friends. Eleanor began working at Cedar Grove Mobile Home and then retired after a full career with ATS as a Truck Driver. In her earlier years, Eleanor was an avid baseball player and fan, often assisting her husband, Fred in coaching the ball team. Together, they spent many summers and winters camping in the Orangeville area. She was a huge sports fan, loving her Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Eleanor could be found every Friday night at the arena cheering on the Falcons. The family wish the extend their gratitude for the excellent care by the nurses and staff on floor 5B at the hospital. In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Cremation will take place, and an evening visitation for guests will be held on Wednesday, May 24th 2023 from 5:00PM-7:00PM in the funeral home. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in memory of Eleanor would be much appreciated by the family.
