Obituary of Bernard Brooks
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Bernard “Bernie” Brooks on Friday, June 2nd 2023 at NHS-St. Catharines with family by his side. He will be greatly missed by his adoring children, Austin (Stacey) Brooks and Allison Brooks; his grandsons, known as Grandad to Alexander Brooks and Gaga to Seamus Burns; brothers and sisters: Sheila (the late Kevin) Wallbank, Marjorie (the late Colin) Adcroft, Eric (Eileen) Brooks and Alan (Valerie) Brooks with many nieces and nephews. Bernie had also shared a special relationship with Abigail, Eduardo, Sofia and Tayanna Bernal. Bernie will be missed by countless friends, colleagues and fellow musicians with special mention to Dan and Fran Grey, Bonnie James, Steve and Donna May, Terry and Debbie Proulx, including their families. After immigrating in 1967 from England, Bernie enjoyed a successful career with General Motors that included roles such as Tool & Die Maker, Tool Designer, and in engineering. When not entertaining others with jokes, Bernie would often be found playing his favourite guitar. In his downtime, our Dad enjoyed watching Coronation Street with a cup of tea. In keeping with his wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNRAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.
We wish to invite friends for a time of visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7th 2023 from 7:00-9:00PM with vigil prayers at 7:15PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alfred Catholic Church Thursday, June 8th 2023 at 11:00AM with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in memory of Bernie to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
