Obituary of Phyllis Rose Bernas
BERNAS, Phyllis (Felicia) Rose (nee Gaidomovich)
Surrounded by her loving children, Phyllis passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25th, 2012, at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Walter (1992). Cherished mother of Bill Bernas, Cathy (Don) Ewart, Susan (Hugh) Wayland, Christine (Doug) Baltus, Carol (Mike) Savage and mother-in-law of Jackie Gesch. Adored grandma of Mark, Tim, Brian, Kevin, Scott, David, Tracy, Lori, Trevor, Michael and Kyla. A very special great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren. Beloved sister to Anne Barker, Jean Staniewski and Helen Zacharewicz. Predeceased by her parents Felix and Salamia Gaidomovich, her brother Wesley Gaidomovich and her granddaughter Rebecca.
Phyllis was born on January 20, 1929 in Pozelwil, Vilna, Lithuania and soon after landed in N.S., Canada. She then moved on to Garik, Saskatchewan and spent most of her early years in Smithville. She married Walter in 1948 and had five children. In Phyllis' earlier years, she loved to spend time at her father's farm where there was always family, music and laughs on the weekends. She loved to rip up the dance floor and always liked to share funny stories from the past. In Walter and Phyllis' retirement years, they enjoyed spending time at their trailer in Magnetawan with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their compassionate care. Phyllis was a resident of the Henley House.
