Just saw this on the St. Catharines site. I saw Harry many times with Elmer at my elementary school. He was a very nice man and committed to his cause of childrens safety. We need more people and police like Harry. May he rest in peace.

Harry continued to support the children of Niagara, even after his retirement. He was the 1st Chair of the Committee that proposed what is now know as the Niagara Safety Village. That was over 20 years ago, as we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary of the Village in September. We still have Elmer painted on the doors of the Police Classroom and still teach Elmer's Safety Rules to the children of Niagara who come to the Village. Well done Sergeant Harry. R.I.P.

Sgt. Artinian was a person to remember. He could always be counted on to be helpful, especially with the children of Niagara. He came to my classrooms many times with Len. One thing I shall always remember about him was him telling my classes that "You don't ride a bike, You drive a bike." Every time I see a person on a bicycle who is not following the rules of the road while driving their bike, I think of him. He did a lot of good in his life and is fondly remembered by many of us who grew up here in St. Catharines.

My sincere condolences to Harry and family. I knew Sgt. Harry at CHSC radio when were both on the air. He was always kind and sincere and his smile lit up every room he entered. The city of St. Catharines will be poorer for his passing.

It was always good to meet Harry no matter where you were. He always had a big smile and a friendly handshake. He and I met often at the Fairview Mall and told some lies over a cup of coffee.
I was involved with him through the Health and Safety and the Drug Awareness Committee. Not only did we have a good time but I learned a lot from him.

What an impact this great man had on so many young people's lives. Even as an adult, with a big smile on my face I would go out of my way when I saw him out in public just to say - Hi Sergeant Artinian! My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends.
