In Loving Memory of Mike Edward Cipryk

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Edward Cipryk, a remarkable husband, father, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, who departed from this world on September 16, 2023 at the age of 66. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, resilience, compassion and generosity that will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on February 9, 1957 in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Mike grew up in the loving embrace of his many wonderful siblings and the many members of the Cipryk family. In 1972, Mike met and fell in love with Betsy Tauro, embarking on a journey of deep partnership and unwavering commitment that lasted over 51 years. Mike is survived by his loving wife and best friend Betsy, his three children Jasmine, Jade, Ben, his favourite son-in-law Andrew, his brother Fred (Anne), his sister RoseMarie (Don), sister-in-law Ru (Judy), brother-in- laws John (Julie) and Phil who will all cherish his memory forever. He was a loving grandpa to Emmie, Siobhan and granddogs Vinnie and Bella. Mike will be remembered by a host of extended family members and a multitude of friends, all of whom were touched by his kind spirit. He’s joining his brothers, Art (Marge) and Albert (Margaret), mom, Betty and dad, John.
Mike was a beacon of light in the lives of many. He was incredibly passionate about the Niagara arts scene and was a longtime member of Garden City Productions, where he was instrumental in preparing shows for the community from technical support, to building sets, to acting as a cast member, to being the President of the GCP Board of Directors. Mike was also the past Artistic Director of Lamp Lighter Tours. He volunteered for the rowing regattas both in St. Catharines and Welland. He also volunteered for Positive Living Niagara in organizing their annual Thanksgiving Dinners for a number of years. He was a volunteer fundraiser, driver and supporter of Oak Centre a community mental health program. Mike’s impact on his community and the many friendships he made will not soon be forgotten.
Visitations will take place September 23, 2023 at the George Darte Funeral Home at 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON from 1-3 p.m and 6-8 p.m. Cremation to follow. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, to honour Mike’s remarkable life, at GCP, 372 Merritt St., St. Catharines from 3-8 pm. Bring a song, poem, or something to share. Mike will be profoundly missed, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. He was not just a husband and father, but he was a guiding light, a friend, and a source of inspiration to many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Garden City Productions or NHS- St. Catharines site.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
