Obituary of Joan Sybil Child

CHILD JOAN SYBIL Passed away peacefully at Portal Village, Port Colborne, on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at 93 years of age. Joan will be lovingly remembered and will be sadly missed by her niece, Marilyn (Bob) Trinder, great nephew David Snook, great nieces Cathy (Janusz) Dominski, Cheryl (Vic) Dopke, Carol ( Warren) Rudel, Carrie (Glenn) Neilson and Kathryn Snook. Joan was the much loved great great aunt to Ryan (Vanessa), Matthew (Meagan), Chae-Lyn, Alex, James, Aaron, Colin, Nicole, Eric and Curtis and she was delighted with the arrival of her triple great nephew William in 2011. Predeceased by her parents Arthur (1946) and Beatrice Child (1952), her sister Phyllis Snook Neilson (1993), also one niece Joyce Beverley Snook (1930) two nephews David Snook (1938) and Kenneth Snook (1979) and a great nephew Robert Snook (2008). Joan worked as a Bell telephone operator in Port Colborne prior to working in the office at the Humberstone Shoe Factory and later at the Port Colborne Hydro until her retirement. Joan resided at the Portal Village Retirement Community since 2006. Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will take place on Friday November 23rd, at the Church of the Transfiguration, 359 Grantham Ave, St. Catharines L2M 5B1, at 11am. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to a charity of your choice or the Church of the Transfiguration would be appreciated by the family. The family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Portal Village for their compassion and care.
