Obituary of Jim Groves
Groves, James (Jim) Andrew, born December 22, 1951 in Brantford, Ontario to Dorothy and Edward Groves. On Wednesday, September 20th, Jim passed away leaving behind his beloved wife, Lorrie of 49 years and his two daughters, Brandi (Stacy) Muzyka, and Amber Faris. Jim was a devoted Grandpa to Codi (Micheala), Brooklyn (Sam), Tyler (Amber), Owen, Alyssa, Cassandra, Drake, and Great-Grandfather to Mayah and Grayson. He is predeceased by his brother George, and sister Shirley, and was a brother-in-law to Dave (Colleen), Dan (Kathy), Tim (Kelly), Tom (Anna), and Pat (Sandy).
Jim retired from General Motors after 20 some years and was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf’s and NASCAR fan. Thank you to the staff at Henley House (Morningstar wing) and the staff at St. Catharines General Hospital for the caring and compassion shown to Dad in his last few days. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Canadian Diabetes Association and the Canadian Cancer Society.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place and the family welcomes guests for a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 27th 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00PM in the funeral home ceremony room with a reception in the Kristen French Fellowship Hall.
