Obituary of Darlene Luella Leistner
Darlene Leistner
1955 - 2023
Darlene passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the St. Catharines Hospital Sept. 26, 2023. Darlene, born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, is predeceased by her parents Arnold "Barney" and Mabel Coulter as well as her sister Brenda (late Jim) Pierman.
She is survived by her loving husband Robert, sons Kyle (Morgan) and Scott (Chantara), and her precious grandchildren Logan, Leona, and Clark. She is also survived by her beloved sister Leanne (Brian) McCallum, sister-in-law Diana (late Jim) Carter, brothers-in-law Bill (Susan) and Steve (Bonnie), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Darlene lived a full life filled with humour and focusing on the positive. She always stood in support of her husband, was a wonderful mother to their two children, and was the funny and loving “Gramma" to her three grandchildren. Wherever her family lived over the years she created a warm and loving home full of great meals and lots of laughs. She made time for everyone. Her circle of friends grew every year, yet she always remained devoted and loyal to her oldest friends and family. Her passion for walks with friends, playing cards, book clubs, exercising, and of course, “kay-yacking” with her closest friends is just a small glimpse into the active and fulfilling life she liked to live. Darlene (Mom/Gramma/Aunt Darlene/Auntie D) will be dearly and deeply missed.
There will be a visitation from 5-8PM on Monday, Oct. 2nd and a funeral service on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at 11:00AM for those who'd like to attend. Both will be held at George Darte Funeral Home at 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON. The funeral will also be broadcasted live on the George Darte Funeral Home website. There will also be a Celebration of Life in Sault Ste. Marie in the coming weeks with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Niagara Health Foundation in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
