Obituary of Dawn Lorraine Rappitt
It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Dawn Lorraine Rappitt (Pettifer) in her 77th year, with family at her side on Wednesday, October 11th 2023 in St. Catharines. Cherished mother to Todd (Jessica) Rappitt and Sean (Amanda) Rappitt, grandmother to Sabastian (Leanna), and Alexandar (Jennifer); Maisie and Nolan; great-grandmother to Aydan-James, Mylah and Isabella; sister to Russell (Carol) Pettifer; predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Chan Pettifer. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Dawn was known for her love of animals; she was an award-winning equestrian and a past member of the Canadian Kennel Club. Dawn loved nature and was an avid hiker, cyclist, and photographer. In her pastime, Dawn sprouted creativity as she loved to draw, read and paint. Many will remember her as the community ‘Block Parent’ who welcomed all into her home as she was generous and kind. Dawn was an active member of the St. Catharines Catholic Cathedral for many years. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the team at Extendicare for their exceptional care and compassion. In keeping with the family’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Catharines’ Humane Society and/or the Alzheimer Society of Niagara in honour of Dawn.
