Vittoria Sforza
March 11, 1943 – October 16th, 2023
With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of Vittoria on Monday, October 16th, 2023 at Hotel Dieu/Shaver (St. Catharines). Loving daughter of the late Ascenzo and late Letizia (nee Oddi) Sforza, she is now eternally reunited with them and other predeceased family and friends. She remains a cherished sister to Anna (John) Ferrelli and Albert (Anna) Sforza as well as being loved and remembered by Zia Maria (the late Pietro) Ferrelli, dear friend, Rino Grella and nieces and cousins, Ivana, Sandra, Anna Rita, Rosella and their families.
Victoria (Vickie) found joy in happy gatherings, bursts of laughter and the traditions of her native birthplace in Italy, Pettorano sul Gizio. On the culinary side, she often expressed her view that a plate of pasta or polenta worked wonders for the soul.
She was grateful to all those around her who walked and stood beside her on her journey and those who listened and were present in her life. In turn, she too was a source of support and compassion for many in her varied social circles. Her cherished bonds of community were wide, including neighbours from Bunting Road and Church Street, former patients of the medical practices where she worked, co-residents and staff at Anchor Pointe and family and friends in Canada, Italy and the U.S.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Thursday, October 19th, from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Vigil prayers at 3:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will celebrated for Victoria on Friday morning October 20th at 11am at St. Alfred Church, 272 Vine Street. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington.
Her family sends a heartfelt thank you to our local health care, social service and other community professionals for their guidance and skills at every step. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Walker Family Cancer Centre (Niagara Health System).
