Obituary of Janet Anne Hallett

HALLETT, Janet - On Saturday, December 9, 2023 the family lost their beloved wife, mother and grandma, Janet Hallett in her 76th year at the Niagara Hospice in St. Catharines, Ontario. Cherished wife of Bill Hallett for 54 wonderful years; loving mother of Bill Hallett, married to Raya, and Sarah Del Zotto, married to Marco and Grandmother of Nolan McQuabbie, Amelia, Olivia and Gabriel Del Zotto and Vivien Hallett. Janet will be survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Janet are her parents, James and Joan Tiffney, sister, Cathy Moore and brother Jim Tiffney and many family members. Janet served as a nurse for 34 years. Janet enjoyed good times with her family and friends. Family members are living in Niagara, Sheffield Ontario, Edmonton, Alberta and Campbell River, British Columbia. Her many friends include those living in the Highlands Residence and her golfing “gals” in Welland/Niagara, Greater Toronto, Windsor, Collingwood, Muskoka and in the USA. She was kind, giving and considerate and will always be remembered for her cooking, baking and gardening skills and love of art especially her stained glass work and seamstress creations. The family wish to acknowledge the wonderful care and love the nurses, doctors and PSW’s at Hospice Niagara and those healthcare workers who cared for her at home during her illness.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with the family’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Janet’s family welcome friends and family for a time of visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 20th from 2:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. & 7:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Wednesday at 3p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 21st, 2023 at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church, 303 Niagara St., Welland at 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Niagara Hospice and Wellspring Niagara in memory of Janet.
