Obituary of Olga Stefanishyn

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Olga Stefanishyn (nee Stacey) on January 2, 2024. Olga lived a full life and was in her 93rd year, living most of her life in St. Catharines. She was born on October 2, 1930 in Honeymoon Saskatchewan. She was a dearly loved mother to: Karen (Lorne) Woods and John; wonderful grandmother to: Alexandra (Carson), Jessee, Jenna, Jay, Jacob and Joseph; daughter to and predeceased by her parents, Anne and Michael Stacey; sister to Mary (Peter) Waytena; sister-in-law to Rose Stacey and predeceased by brothers: Bill, Bob and sister Elsie Williams; proud aunt to: Susan, Lisa, Tammy, Lisa, Kimberley, Jessica and many extended family. Olga will be greatly missed for her kind heart, constant smile, generosity, devotion, love, phenomenal cooking and open arms to all.  She loved her family, and constantly showed love with a heaping meal you couldn't refuse. Olga volunteered at St. Georges Ukrainian church, loved to dance - aka the polka queen and loved to garden - constantly proud of her rhubarb and well kept flowers. A strong woman, she worked and provided for many after the untimely death of her husband, Charles (Charlie).  Her steadfast devotion to her family, love and generosity enriched the lives of many. In her last years, she was living at Garden City Manor. The family would like to thank the entire staff for the hugs, warmth and loving care they provided to Olga. She had many friends there as well. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family welcome friends and family for a time of gathering on Sunday, January 7th from 2:00 - 4:00PM with a funeral service held on Monday, January 8th 2024 in the funeral home ceremony room beginning at 2:00PM. A burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Olga.
