Obituary of John Armelio Mantini
It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Johnny Mantini on Thursday, January 11th 2024 in his 72nd year. Survived by his beloved spouse of 20 years, Gloria Mantini (nee Parker); loving daughter, Sarahfina (James) Tourangeau, loving step-daughters, Kerri (Steve) Ewoniak and Tracy (Garrett) Haymes; adored grandchildren Judah and Juliette Tourangeau, Joylynn and Hailey Haymes and Allie and Aiden Ewoniak. Deeply loved by his sisters Jane Cocco, Sandra (Ian) Blundy, Barbara (Dave) Colonico and Ann (Joe) Celima; sisters-in-law Mary Mantini and Dianne (Jim) Book; brothers-in-law Wayne (Helen) and Steve Parker and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Johnny was a treasured friend to many and will be missed and loved by all who had the honour of knowing him. Predeceased by Johnny are his parents, Americo and Enedina Mantini; sister Serena Spagnol, brother Aldo Mantini, sister-in-law Ann Parker and brother-in-law “Sam” Salvatore Cocco.
If you were to walk into Johnny’s garage, you would understand how passionate he was about all things mechanical; from refurbishing old car engines, air compressors, retro gas pumps and porcelain signs, drill presses, lathes and his beautiful 1958 red Chevy Impala he proudly named after his sister, Serena. He had most recently added modern air conditioning to her - not an easy task, but he did it! Johnny loved collecting and had great taste too. He renovated the old family home into a beautiful country estate. There was not much that this talented man could not do. But the most important thing about him was his genuine kindness and empathy for others. He had a strong faith in God. Johnny loved listening to music and had a great sense of humour with a beautiful laugh and smile to match.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.
