Obituary of Stefan Fang
Stefan Fang (Steve)
August 6 1934 - January 14 2024
It is with heavy hearts that our family is announcing the passing of Stefan Fang on the morning of January 14th at home with his family at his side. He leaves behind his loving wife Irma of 65 years and his only daughter, Rosemarie (Ryan). He was the father that everyone wanted to have and family always came first as he loved and would do anything for them. He is predeceased by his beloved son Anthony (Tony) whom he missed dearly and his brother John Fang, sister in law Hermine Fang and brother in law John Ullmer. Steve also leaves behind a sister, Theresia Fang and his three granddaughters Ashlyn (Eric), Kylene and Leann along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stefan was a handy man and could fix anything and his wife always said, "It is now better than new!". He loved sailing and playing the accordion with his brother John and friend (The Bue Star Band) at clubs and weddings. He had a coffee shop in 1964 (Steve's Coffee Shop) on the corner of Facer and Grantham Ave. He also co-owned the local Kist beverage company, managed the Moran beverage company, then to Ferranti Paccard as machine repair and then on to General Motors for 17 years where he went on to invent the Fang sander that is still in use at the factory to this day. Steve will be remembered fondly for putting his heart and soul into everything that he did.
We are so very thankful to Dr. Alazrah for his wonderful, compassionate care. And to the psw's that came over from Heidehof to help - you girls were amazing and we don't know what we would have done without you. Also, thanks to Dr. Yu for his many years previously of great health care. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, January 19th from 6-8p.m. and Saturday, January 20th from 11a.m.-12p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 12p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
