Obituary of Shirley Madeliene Stanko
Shirley M. Stanko (nee Marshall) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 at the age of 84, following a 5-year journey with Parkinson's Disease. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Stanko, her children Karen (Steve Davies), Randy Felesko, and Kathryn (Wayne Cormier), as well as her three grandchildren Jesse and Alexandra Felesko and Matthew Cormier. Also surviving Shirley is her sister Rosemary (John Szczur).
Shirley retired as an Elementary School Teacher with the Welland County Catholic School Board after 36 years in the teaching profession. Shirley loved spending time with her family, music and travel. The family would like to express their gratitude to Shirley’s palliative care team for their care, kindness and support. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM followed by a Memorial Celebration of Shirley’s Life in the funeral home ceremony room. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Steve Ludzik Parkinson's Foundation in care of Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
