Obituary of Frederick Alexander Mitruk
MITRUK, Frederick, peacefully at Niagara On The Lake Hospital on October 8th, 2012, in his 90th year, in the arms of Mary, his loving wife of 66 1/2 years, and with his family. He was a loving father to Steve (Brigitte), and Bill (Gina), Gedo to Terry (Nancy), Chris, Jason (Kristen), and Tara, and Great Gedo to Kyle, Michael, Jacqueline, and Kostyn. He is survived by his sister Anne (Glen) in Australia. He will be greatly missed by brother-in-law Peter (Lois) in Arizona, many nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Mike, John, Steve and Louis, and sisters Catherine and Margaret. A founding member of St. John's UK Catholic Church, Fred had been active in the choir, and kitchen, as well as on many other committees. He was renowned for playing his hand-made cimbala (dulcimer), and played at many church and community functions. He was an avid golfer, and was also a men's gymnastics judge.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Heritz, and to Dr. Jimoh and the dedicated, and caring staff at the NOTL hospital for the outstanding care he received during the last two months of his long struggle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. on Tuesday, at 1 pm with visiting from 12 †" 1. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House at Hamilton's McMaster Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
