Obituary of Verna Louise Merrill
MERRILL, Verna Louise (nee Bartlett)- Passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at the age of 90. Verna was reunited with her true love of 55 years, her late husband Charlie Merrill who predeceased her in 2007. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Pat Metsala (Danny), daughter Marilyn Arsenault (the late Rene) and son Dale (France). Beloved Grammy to 8 grandchildren: Rhea Busch (Mike), Dan Metsala (Sabrina), Amanda McCooeye (Chris), Tom Metsala, Mike Metsala (Carling), Laura Richards (Shawn) Angelique Merrill and Amelie Merrill plus 9 great-grandchildren. Verna was born the ninth of fourteen children. Verna, Charlie and their 3 children moved to St. Catharines from St. Stephen, NB in 1965. She retired after 25 years working for Miracle Mart in 1993. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her passion for travel and love of Elvis, horses and extreme love of dogs. Her immediate family will be holding a private burial. A Celebration of Verna's Life for friends and family will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
